On April 26, our family gathered with friends for a family BBQ at Blanchard Park in Orlando.

We had a lot to be happy about.  We celebrated the marriage of our daughter Erica to Damir Plazibat, which had taken place in December.

We noted that Ronda and Andy Moore would soon be celebrating their eighth wedding anniversary.  June and Ron just passed the 45th year anniversary on April 5.  May as well stay married for the duration!

John and Sandee were our BBQ team.  They prepared a "Santa Maria Style" BBQ complete with tri-tip, salsa and Suzi Q Beans.

What's a picnic these days without a pinata?  Here Sergei and Caleb and Cate Currier take their best shots.  Eventually the bashers won and candy rained down.

 

 

Ron's 75th Birthday Adventure

A big surprise seemed to be in order for such an auspicious occasion.  We announced at the BBQ that Ron would be flying over Orlando the next day in a vintage aircraft, and he would be the pilot!  Ron had a private pilot's license many years ago and now he would have a chance to see how much he remembered. 

The whole family met at the Kissimmee Airport on Sunday morning to watch Ron fly! 

It was exciting to see him climb aboard and prepare for his adventure.  The instructor pilot showed him how to fasten his parachute and safety belts. 

He flew for an hour and was able to do some loops,  barrel rolls, Cuban-eights and other maneuvers. 

There just happened to be a photographer there that day from ARIA Motion Pictures doing some video for the Discovery Channel and he filmed some of their flight.  It should be broadcast sometime in July or August.  Stay tuned...

Hey, he's 75 and he's still GOT IT!!
