Washington, D.C.

We went to Washington, D.C. in October of 2007, after leaving our summer assignment as volunteers for the Forest Service in western Virginia.
Our trip was fun and interesting, although nerve-racking at times. The traffic was terrible and it's easy to miss direction signs when you are speeding along with the flow of traffic. (Note: Remind self to buy vehicle with talking GPS before next trip to Wash, D.C.)
On the Mall
We didn't see a lot of older folks roaming around the mall, and quickly determined there is a good reason for that - too much WALKING!
My dream to see the White House and the Capitol Building came true at last. Imagine our surprise to see the anti-war demonstrators who had set up a permanent display right in front of the White House gates! Hey, it's the American way!
